Closets for everyone...

Since we had to remove the closet in Mile's room for the new hallway we had to build a new one for his room.

We learned that in order for a new room to be considered a ROOM when selling it had to have it's own closet.

If we tried to sell the house without a closet in the addition we couldnt count it as a bedroom. We would have to call it a loft, or something other than a bedroom.

Miles' room now has it closet located in the new rooms area. It takes away some of the big space but this now gives Miles a new WALK in closet.

The closet for the new room will act more as a storage space for us, but will be more than adequate space as a working closet.

(the closer they get to finishing the new room the more I like the idea of making it a Home theatre!!! I can dream right?)

Getting closer to our new room...

Now that the floor is built and the stable frame work is finished it's time to add the new closets and the electrical outlets and light switches.
To free up some space on the ceilings we had them install some POT LIGHTS for all our lighting needs. They are cheap and look much cleaner than fixtures.
This view is looking down the hallway from the new room.
Its hard to believe that this was all wasted space above our heads.

This is looking inside from the front door entrance.

The ceiling is still going to be at 9 feet, so we don't have to worry about the low lying feeling for the room.
(dust is everywhere-see the covers on everything)

WE'VE GOT DOORS!!!

The door on the left is the new entrance into Miles' room with the right door leading to the new room.

The angle in the ceiling made it possible to create a roomy storage area.

This place is a PIGSTY!!!

What were we thinking when we decided to add a room addition to the house!?!?!
The process is moving along pretty quickly. It's only been 3 weeks since we started and all of the framework is now completed. We only have a two man team doing all the work, but they are hard working and FAST!

This shows the new flooring created in the living room area (looking at front door).

This is our new room!!! (note the light fixture that used to be over our dining room table).

The slanted ceiling takes away some of the headroom, but we plan on making that a small storage space.
