The Drought in California is over!!!

The Football season is almost over, but the Napa Saints Junior Midgets Team has some unfinished business.

The Saints have been AMAZING this season.  Finishing the regular season at 8-2 with an outstanding 7 shutouts!!!   The Defense has been strong all season shutting down the leagues powerful offenses.   The only blemishes coming from Clayton Valley Falcons (9-1) and the undefeated East County Lions (10-0).    The Saints finished the season with another shutout of San Ramon Bears.  Facing off in the first rounds of the playoffs against the Pleasant Hill Running Rebels.   After beating them in the regular season the Saints knew what they needed to do to stay on top.  Miles had a late long touchdown catch in the VICTORY.   The second round of the playoffs had the Saints facing off against the second ranked Falcons that beat them earlier in the season.  That mid-season match up found the Saints on the wrong side of a 37-12 LOSS.   However the hard work all season paid off and this time around the Saints were ready for the Falcons.

Next up is a rematch with the Lions in a winner takes all title bout for CHAMPIONS of the NEYFCA league.  See you in the TURKEY BOWL!!!

We are all proud of this group of boys.  They've worked hard and have enjoyed playing together.  And it shows on the field.

This year we spent Christmas in the desert.   Palm Desert to be exact.  We joined Michele's Parents and Sister at Marriot's Palm Desert resort.   We had a blast and soaked up some of the Winter Sun!

Winter Break Roller Boogie!!!

Michele celebrated her 45th birthday last week.  She wanted to do something special, so we introduced the kids to the OLD FASHIONED art of ROLLER SKATING!!!

After doing a little online research, Michele found a Roller rink in Sacramento.  (They still have a few left).   It was like stepping back into a  time machine.  Nothing has changed.  The Rink looked as though it was frozen in place circa 1979.   Dingy hardwood floors, and broken down lockers lined the walls.   The disco ball in the center of the rink, with flickering colored lights. All the details were the same, as we left them 25 years ago, right down to the dusty brown skates with the bright orange wheels were perfect.

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?

It's THAT time of year again!!!  Are you ready for some football?

This year is a little bit different for the Williams family.  Why?   It's because we have a new member added to the active roster of the Napa Saints squad.   Roman Williams has joined his brother in the Diablo Valley football league member.

Roman started on the SCOUT team this year. #34 (Walter Payton) The practices have been going well, and Roman has already found his position.   He is carrying the torch of his Father by being a DB.   He shined in practice at the Safety position.   He switches between Strong and Free Safety...  He's loving the game and playing with his heart everyday in practice.

Miles is continuing his dominance at the RB position. #24  He's also shifted back to his favorite DE position he once held in Scouts.  Miles has moved up into the PEE WEE division this year.  Last year he shined at running back/middle linebacker  Jr. Pee Wee division, so expectations were high for him moving up to Pee Wee.   In his first year as Pee Wee he won the RB spot and will be the starter.

On the season opener Roman and the scouts defeated the Benicia team they faced with ease.  ROMAN led the defense and shut down the Benicia team as they tried to score on the last play of the first half.   Roman in his second play drifted back to cover the running back looking for the catch.   He stepped in front of the throw and snatched it out of the air to take the possession.  The Saints went on to send Benicia packing...

Miles continued to shine, and took on the new division with ease.   The Benicia pee wee team broke free after the first quarter and Napa was playing catch up.   The offense took a while before it could get started, but Miles Williams gave it a good jump start by breaking free in the 3rd quarter with a 74 yard TD run.   He also followed that up with a 4th quarter TD run of 12 yards.   He finished that day with another 100 yd + day.   He also had one FUMBLE recovery and various tackles.   Although the Pee Wee's fell short of the Win they played well, and will improve.

NAPA FORCE!!!

Napa Force Lacrosse!!!

This year Miles switched from Baseball to Lacrosse.  He picked up the new sport in no time, and he loves the fast paced tempo, and BIG hitting contact that reminds him of football.  The coaches are great and keep the kids motivated.   Some of his teammates are from his football team.   It's a great sport to watch since it's non-stop action!

This past weekend we played a tough game against a much larger Pleasanton team.  Miles scored three goal on the day to complete a hat-trick!!!

Miles is # 23 and plays multiple positions from Mid-Fielder to Goalkeeper to Defenseman.

Miles turns ELEVEN!!!!   Our first born has eclipsed the decade mark.  His Cousins Kennedy and Mason were in town, along with Auntie 'Net and Nana and Papa.   Miles wanted to go play PAINTBALL for his birthday, so we hit the fields.   We tried a new Paintball location called Paintball Jungle.   This is one of the largest locations in the area.   And is close by, so we didn't have to drive very far.  They offer a Mom's play for FREE, so we brought Michele and Annette to play too.  Jordan came with us too to round out the posse.

In the first game it was Me (dad) Michele, and Annette vs. the young ones Miles, Jordan, and Kennedy.      I took out Kennedy  -  Jordan took me out - Michele and Annette teamed up on the birthday boy for the win.   Here's the helmet cam footage of the carnage.

Napa Saints make the Playoffs!!!

The Junior Pee Wee squad faces their old nemesis the San Ramon T-Birds.
The last time these two teams met the T-Birds gain the edge.  This time the Saints
look for some payback.

The team played their hearts out, but the bad calls from the Ref's left us in a hole that was hardto escape.   Next year things WILL be different.

Our Last Regular season game was against Deer Valley. The last time we met this team was in last years playoff game. Needless to say the Napa Saints were looking for some payback. ..
It was a tough game. Deer Valley seemed to find a way to shut down Napa's passing game. Miles was hurt late in the second half. He shook off the cobwebs and forged forward and looked to return before the end of the half.
Miles added an extra spark starting off the 2nd half drive with a long 43 yard Touch Down run.

Napa Saints Protect the House!!!

After a tough loss last week on the road The Saints pulled it together to Protect their home field against the WEST COUNTY SPARTANS!!! Miles was the work horse of the group pounding the defense with chunks of positive yards. He scored the first touchdown of the game on the opening drive, by a 1 yard dive for six. The big story of the game was the awesomeness of the passing game. The QB had time to pick the secondary apart. #19 was able to find his favorite targets #13 and #40 for huge gains and throwing for one TD while running one in on a QB sneak from the 1 yard line after a big Williams gain.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. In recognition of this special cause the Napa Saints are wearing pink socks. Miles is also wearing a ribbon sticker on his helmet to show support for his survivor Grandmother! We love you Mom-Mom!!! sound is broken at beginning but will work
